FIREFIGHTERS spent several hours tackling flames which had engulfed a taxi office and a property above a scooter sales room in Yeovil last night (August 12).
An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire, which happened at the premises on Central Road at 2.20am opposite Yeovil Bus Station.
At its height, there were four fire engines and several firefighters trying to tackle the fire as crews tried to establish whether anyone was trapped in the building.
An ambulance was called as a precaution.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire Service said: "Crews have now confirmed that all persons are accounted for and that the fire has been extinguished.
"Crews are currently at work ventilating the property. A Fire Investigation Officer will be attending the incident to establish the cause of fire."
Taxi office owner Susannah Hempstead said: "The business has been running for 25 years now.
"I just want to make sure that our customers know that our service is still running.
"We're lucky that we can run it out of a vehicle."
