A GROUP hoping to make Ilminster a Fairtrade Town says an official application has not been submitted yet.
Last week, following information received, the News reported that Ilminster had become a Fairtrade Town.
But Roger Gurner, chairman of Ilminster Fairtrade, said it still had to make an application despite receiving the backing of the town council, which proposed a motion to adopt the process of becoming a Fairtrade town.
Mr Gurner said: “We want to be seen at various community events first to give people information and advice. Our intention and expectation is then to submit an application in the New Year.”
The group is preparing to carry the campaign forward at the Party on the Park, Ilminster Carnival, The Rotary Charity Fayre and the Victorian Evening.
Anyone interested in helping or seeking more information should visit the group’s new website, ilminsterfairtrade.uk
