ONE man has died and another was injured after two cars collided in Yeovil this morning (September 5).

The incident happened at about 12.06am on the A3088 at Alvinton Bridge.

Two cars were involved in a head-on collision and then burst into flames.

The driver of one of the vehicles was rescued and went to Yeovil District Hospital before being transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. He is thought to have arm and stomach injuries – not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

The man in the other vehicle was declared dead at the scene.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who might have information to help our enquiries.

Anyone able to assist is asked to call the roads policing unit at Yeovil or the collision investigation unit on the force number 101.
