POLICE are appealing for the public’s help after a 27-year-old woman was assaulted in Yeovil.

The woman was walking through an alleyway connecting Thatcham Park and Ilchester Road, at about 5.20am on Sunday (August 31), when she was approached by a man.

The man pushed her against a wall, causing an injury to her face. She managed to kick out at him but he ran off towards the nearby Tesco store.

The offender was white and wearing white trainers, dark jeans, a brown/red top and a black baseball cap with a flat peak.

Investigating officer PC Anne Snell said: “We’ve carried out house-to-house enquiries and will be examining CCTV footage to try and identify a potential suspect.

“I’m very keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident, or who may have seen a man wearing similar clothes to those described by the victim.”
