ARACHNOPHOBES look away now because animal experts are warning householders to expact an invasion of giant spiders this winter.

A mixture of rising temperatures and easier access to food has seen the eight-legged creatures grow bigger than ever.

Spiders have been soaking up the September sun but experts now say they will move into homes to look for a mate.

There are approximately 660 species of spider in the UK, and according to the preliminary results of the Society of Biology’s House Spider Survey (which recently closed), the public struggle to differentiate between spider species and sexes.
