THIS critter was busy hunting for food when it was snapped by Chard Camera Club member James Brown.

James was behind the lens on the River Axe in Devon when he spotted the animal.

A spokesman for the camera club said: “This photo is quite remarkable as the otter is a rare sight during the day being mainly a nocturnal animal.”

James has been a member of the camera club for mainly years and is often heard passing on his wildlife tips during the club night meetings.

Recently James donated a composite canvas print of an owl, deer and otter for the club to raffle off with the proceeds being divided between the club for purchase of needed equipment and the Devon and Somerset Air ambulance.

Chard Camera Club is welcoming new members regularly and anyone wishing to improve their ability of capturing good images or any other aspects of their photography should pay the club a visit during their twice monthly meetings at the Baptist Church Hall Holyrood Street at 7.30pm on the first and third Thursday of the month.

Enquiries can be made direct to a member by contacting club members secretary Peter Partridge 01460-66885 or by visiting their web site www.chardcameraclub.org.uk
