ALL the blood, sweat and tears having been paying off for entrants in to this year's Chard Carnival as the results will show.

We've been speaking to a few clubs this morning who say they are delighted and even surprised with the results.

Chard's Generations CC won the public choice award for their 'This Time Next Year' with baby Elsie stealing the hearts of the crowd - see our video for a better idea!

Chard Carnival chairman Andy Chant said it was a fantastic night.

He added: "Well done and thank you to everyone involved.

"Thank you everyone who took part, the people who came along to watch, the shops in the town and everyone who has helped me in my first year as chairman.

"Special thanks must be given to Adrian Gridley our contact with the police who has just been a fountain of knowledge for me.

"He's retiring after this year's carnivals after 40 years and he will be missed."

The committee are looking for new volunteers to join so if you're interested contact Andy on 07850-523734.
