THE Labour Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Yeovil constituency has had to stand down on medical grounds, a spokesperson has said.
Candidate Martin Jevon requires back surgery and will be resting for several months in the New Year, making it impossible for him to campaign in the lead up to May’s election.
Joe Conway, chairman of the Yeovil Labour Party said: “We all wish Martin a speedy recovery and thank him for all the good work he has carried out on behalf of the local Labour Party since his selection in February.
“Martin is a very talented and well informed politician it is a sad loss to our party.
“In the meantime Murray Shepstone, who was Martin’s appointed agent, will assume this responsibility until the local party members select a replacement candidate.”
