OVERNIGHT resurfacing work on the A303 Hayes End roundabout and the eastbound approach near South Petherton begins tonight (December 8).

Works will be carried between 8pm and 6am over five nights and are due to be completed on the morning of Saturday December 13.

The work means that a section of the A303 will be fully closed to through traffic overnight.

The closure will be on the eastbound and westbound carriageways between the A303/A356 Prophets Lane junction, near Martock/Stoke-sub-Hamdon, and Ilminster roundabout.

There will be a signed diversion route in place via the A358 to Chard, A30 to Crewkerne and A356 to the A303.

Additional signage will be placed at strategic points along the signed diversion route.

Access will be maintained for Emergency Services and local traffic will have access to Hayes End, Harp Road and the unnamed road to Yeabridge over the roundabout during the works.

Traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights.

Some lane closures will also be kept in place for the safety of the road users during the day but this is not expected to cause any congestion.
