A FORMER Wadham School, Crewkerne, pupil has dared to bare all for a calendar raising money for horticulturists’ charity Perennial.

Andrew Wain, head gardener at Euridge Manor near Bath, is part of the Grubby Gardeners.

He became involved after seeing an appeal on Twitter for gardeners to take part in the Dirty Dozen – an obstacle course to raise money.

Andrew, 32, said: “We’ve already sold 600 calendars – this has already exceeded a lot of our expectations but it’s great that we can help raise money for Perennial.

“I fundraise quite a bit for charities – it’s nice to give something back.

“I’ve done skydives and climbed Kilimanjaro but standing naked in a pond in a garden surrounded by pink flamingos is definitely a one off.”

The team shot to fame earlier this year after appearing naked on Loose Woman as part of campaign for World Naked Gardening Day.

Michael Perry, founder of the Grubby Gardeners and a gardening expert and presenter, initiated plans for the calendar.

He said: “I’m sure you remember the Calendar Girls – then we saw firemen, marines, even rowers, but somehow gardeners had never de-clothed for charity.

“So I’d been hatching a plan for a few years, looking for a range of horticulturists who might be up for it.

“On the back of all this cheekiness, Perennial and their charity work is going from strength to strength and beginning to reach a wider audience, so let’s continue to make that happen.”

The hardy group was photographed at The Roof Gardens in Kensington in a variety of seasonal poses.

Their fundraising has already raised more than £6,000 for Perennial, which helps horticulturists and their families during difficult times.

The 2015 Perennial Naked Gardeners calendar costs £9.99 and is available to order at perennial.org.uk/calendar
