AN investigation is taking place to find out the cause of a fire which trapped a man in his bedroom in Crewkerne in the early hours of this morning.
Fire engines from Crewkerne, Yeovil and Beaminster were sent to a report of a man who was stuck in a first floor bedroom filled with smoke and was unable to get out.
Fire Control stayed on the phone to the gentleman who was unable to get to an open window until the fire crews and ambulance arrived.
On arrival to the property on Middle Path, at around 1.25am, crews confirmed that there was a fire in the living room which was directly below the bedroom with the gentleman inside.
They used a ladder to rescue the male form the bedroom and took him to safety where he was imediately treated by ambulance staff. A neighbour was also removed from their property and treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire was extinguished and an investigation is being undertaken to ascertain the cause of the fire.
