HONEYCOMB Nursery School in Chard is celebrating an ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted.

The nursery, at Pollard House, Crimchard, was given the highest rating across all categories.

Staff were praised for their high standards and excellent communication and relationships with parents who are involved in the children’s learning.

Inspector Joanne Steward said: “The staff have maintained the nursery’s extremely high standards.

The staff make full use of their knowledge and excellent teaching skills to help children make significant progress in their learning and development form their abilities on entry.

“The children enjoy a rich range of activities that captivate their attention. The staff team have excellent relationships with parents and work closely with other professionals to support children’s care and development. The children’s behaviour is excellent.”

Penny Kilbride, Honeycomb manager and nursery teacher, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the staff, Banah Crook and Emily Larcombe, for their hard work and dedication in making Honeycomb such a special place.

“Equal thanks must go to the children and parents who support us and help to create such a happy and stimulating nursery.

“I’d also like to thank other settings and local primary schools which have helped develop and maintain professional partnerships, enabling us to work together in the Early Years Foundation Stage.”
