A GROUP of talented young artists from Greenfylde First School had the opportunity to meet the artist Nina Gronw-Lewis at the Ilminster Arts Centre last week.

The visit, arranged by Sue Bishop at The Meeting House, allowed the children to share in Nina’s art work and ask lots of questions about how she creates her installations.

All of the children were inspired by Nina’s latest installation which which is on display in the gallery following a period on display in the garden at Hestercombe.

The multi-coloured pavilion made by linking, knotting and looping lots of different materials was a huge hit for the children as unlike many other art works with this one they were able to go inside it and touch and hold all of the different materials.

Claire Oaten, headteacher at the Ilminster school, said: "Having the opportunity to visit Nina and see her works in the gallery was a truly inspirational experience for the children.

"The pleasure they took in looking at the works of art and talking about them with the artist was a joy to see and I’m so grateful to Nina and The Meeting House for giving them this visit.

"It has now given us all some ideas for potential art installations in our outdoor spaces and encouraged the children ahead of Greenfylde’s own art exhibition in The Meeting House in June."
