ILMINSTER Football Club have enjoyed a successful Easter of fundraising for its new home.

Youth players sold tickets for the Easter Draw door to door, where they also got the chance to speak about their hopes for improved facilities.

Lucky winner Matt Hamilton was presented with his prize - an iPad Mini - last week by the club and its main sponsor.

Football club officials have expressed their delight at the success of the draw, which raised £700 towards the new development in Britten's Field.

Secretary Andy Fish said: "The most pleasing thing from the club's prospective was the backing for our new football pavilion in Britten's Field.

"Youth team players Louie and Harvey Webber went out door to door in the Canal Way area and told local homeowners of the club's plans and their wish for better facilities.

"The two youngsters sold more than 200 £1 tickets, and had a positive feedback on support for the new facilities, which they felt very much overwhelmed and encouraged by."

The club would also like to express its thanks to local shops and businesses who allowed the selling of tickets, including Laurie McKinnon at Spar Station Road, The Stonemasons, Tesco, Burger King, Fitness First and Harper Dolman and West.

The football club has begun its search for sponsorship and funding towards its new venture and have received a "fantastic backing."

Club officials added thanks to Reyland Car Sales, Cottage Flowers, Ilminster Warehouse, Perry’s Cider and Brakes Motor Company who have joined the list of club sponsors.
