Police have launched a murder inquiry after the bodies of a man and woman were found at a house in Chard.

Officers were called to a property in Wellings Close at around 10.15am on Sunday, July 5, following the discovery of the bodies inside.

Formal identification procedures have not yet taken place but officers believe the bodies are of a 42-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man.

Officers are still investigating how these two people died and post-mortem examinations will be carried out later today by a Home Office pathologist

Senior Investigating Officer Andy Mott said: “We’re treating this as an isolated incident and are not looking for anyone else in connection with these deaths.

“We have specially trained family liaison officers who are supporting the families involved.

“There continues to be increased police activity in the area but we’d like to reassure residents that there’s no risk to the wider community.”
