ORGANISERS of a charity fun walk in the grounds of Sherborne Castle next month have won the support of Tommy Banner of the Wurzels.

He is asking his fans to take part in the Pink Peacock Walk on Sunday, May 6, to help raise money for two charities - Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Prostate Research Campaign UK.

Tommy was diagnosed with prostate cancer following a routine test two years ago and after surgery is now back to full fighting fitness.

Also supporting the Pink Peacock Walk is Barbara Clark who successfully fought to have the drug Herceptin provided on the NHS. She was diagnosed with a particular aggressive form of breast cancer and is now fit and well. Her book The Fight of My Life was published earlier this year and tells of her campaign with the government to have women with breast cancer offered Herceptin.

Juliet Pentolfe, of the Pink Peacock Walk, said: "Money raised from this event will benefit two worthwhile charities who carry out essential research. Breakthrough Breast Cancer runs a project in which the lives of 100,000 women are being followed to find the causes of breast cancer, and Prostate Research Campaign UK sponsors independent medical research into prostate problems."

You can raise money for both the charities by walking 5km or 10km at Sherborne Castle on May 6. A top local jazz band will play live and there will be a chance to wander around the castle's beautiful grounds - barbeque and refreshments also available. Join us for a fun family day out !
