Cutting equipment had to be used after a crash on the A303 left one person trapped in wreckage and a car in a ditch.
Appliances from Martock, Ilminster and the rescue tender from Yeovil were mobilised to the crash on the A303 West, South Petherton to Southfields stretch of road.
Crews arrived on scene and got to work setting up road rescue cutting equipment, working alongside paramedics and the police.
Crews removed the door of the vehicle to free the casualty. Paramedics also dealt with one walking wounded casualty.
Crews made the vehicle and scene safe using small tools and one hose reel jet.
