A CHARITY clay pigeon shoot is being held at Cricket St Thomas to try and raise money for Help for Heroes.

The event, which has been organised by the British Association for Shooting and Conversation (BASC), will take place this Saturday (September 5).

The event will feature a competitive 50-bird sporting clay shoot, a three man flush with cash prizes, plus an opportunity for newcomers or those a little rusty to try clay shooting under the supervision of accredited BASC shotgun instructors.

BASC South West Regional Officer James Green said: “We’re all set for what should be a great day in aid of a very deserving charity.

“The aim is to offer something for everyone, from airgun ranges and clay instruction, to a challenging sporting layout with some great prizes.”

Other attractions will include supervised airgun ranges, with a chance to win prizes including a brand new BSA Comet EVO air rifle, hot and cold refreshments and a bar.

The charity event, which is raising money for Help for Heroes and BASC’s Young Shots programme, is being sponsored by Chard-based estate agents, Derbyshire’s.

Paul Curtis of Derbyshire’s Estate Agents added: “We are delighted to be supporting this event. Help for Heroes is a wonderful charity, and BASC does so much to promote the benefits that shooting can bring us all.

“We’re looking forward to what should be a wonderful day with a friendly crowd in beautiful surroundings.”

The gates will open at 10am on Saturday 5, with last entries to the clay shoot at 4pm and prizes due to be presented at 5.15pm.

Entry to the sporting clay shoot is £18 with re-entry at £15.
