SILENT stars from our communities will once again be recognised and celebrated by Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens.

Ms Mountstevens said she is passionate about celebrating the work of those who go above and beyond for their community, and this is why she is re-launching her PCC Pride Awards.

She is now calling on people across Somerset to put forward nominations to recognise those working tirelessly in their communities.

PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “It is an absolute pleasure to hear about the people behind the fantastic projects and initiatives across Avon and Somerset through my Pride Awards.

"There are many selfless people who dedicate their time to better their local community and it is incredibly humbling.

“These Pride Awards are for us all to take the time to acknowledge, recognise and say a big thank you to those individuals who consistently go above and beyond and who want to make where we live and work a better place to be.

"In re-launching these awards I look forward to again receiving some worthy applications and hearing your truly inspiring stories.”

In her previous PCC term, Ms Mountstevens presented over 90 deserving winners with ‘PCC Pride Awards’ and recognised Neighbourhood Watch coordinators, police officers and local residents, all who dedicate their time to strengthening their communities.

Criminal Justice caseworker, Hazel Renauf, a PCC Pride award winner for her work with the charity One25 said: “It was an honour to sit and listen to others and their achievements it was a truly humbling experience and reminds you that we are all working towards improving our communities and helping those who are vulnerable and those in need of support.”
