A FATHER and son team near Ilminster have set up a new mobile tyre fitting service after the closure of of Hilltop Tyres in the town last month.

Ian and Elliott Kerr of Ilton started the company etyres after growing frustrated at the lack of services in the area when Ian needed a tyre replacing.

Ian said: “I was looking for a tyre fitting service myself and nothing in the area could do what I wanted.

“I was talking to my son and thought, that is something we could do together.

“Nobody looks forward to buying new tyres, they are usually an unwanted and unexpected expense.

“But they are a necessity, not a luxury, and we rely on our vehicles so much in this area, not least because many parts are rural and public transport is not always an easy option.

“This also means motorists may have to drive for many miles to get their new tyres fitted at a traditional garage or tyre depot, but our mobile tyre fitting service aims to take the time and hassle out of buying new tyres.

“We come to your home or work to fit them at your convenience.

“And as well as saving our customers time and hassle, our service is also focused on offering excellent value for money.

“Unlike garages and tyre depots we have low overheads, so our customers benefit from lower prices.”

Etyres also supply and fit a wide range of batteries to suit all vehicles and budgets.

The company provide a next day service and the staff also features Ian’s daughter and his son-in-law.

Ian said he was hoping his new business would grow in popularity with residents.

He said: “We are just coming into autumn, when the days are getting shorter and colder and our vehicle batteries will soon be subjected to heavy use powering the lights, heaters, windscreen blowers, etc.

“If you have a flat battery, what do you do?

“How can you get your car – which won’t start because of a flat battery – to a garage to have a new battery fitted?

“No problem. Now all you have to do is contact etyres and we will bring the battery to you and fit it on your doorstep.

“We are investing in our future and so This was a big decision for both of us. Etyres ticked all the boxes.”
