DRAGONS and wolves came together with cowboys and Indians for the Ilminster Children’s Carnival at the weekend.

The annual event was held on Saturday afternoon and saw around 20 colourful entries from all over to compete.

Socca Samba, the entry by Lucy May Brion, Owen Muckersie, Oliver Upshall, and Brooke and Harper Oliver, took the Chard and Ilminster News cup for overall winner. The Barbara Lee Cup for best overall individual costume went to Socca Samba.

A brand new Plato Cup for most colourful entry was given to Dragon Master Osscar Collins, who also won joint first in the Federation Class Single or pairs.

Kai Newbury’s Avatar won the single entry up to seven years old on foot, the single entry eight years old to 16 years old on foot went to Jack Lewis’ Bear Grylls, and the pairs up to 16 years old on foot went to the Apprentice Pirates, Oliver and Monica Newbery.

Groups of three to six children on foot was won by Socca Samba, while the group of seven or more children on foot went to the Cowboys and Indians of Sunny Ile Pre-School.

Neroche Playgroup won the Tony Goverd Cup for the Spirit of Carnival, and group of four or more with non-motorised vehicle up to the age of 16 years old.
