FOUR Wadham School pupils have received top awards at an event in London.

Abigail French, Bethany Lacey, Rebecca French and Max Mitchell were celebrated at the PiXL Student Celebration Awards on Thursday, September 21.

The national awards were presented by Olympic Gold Medal Cycling Team Pursuit member Joanna Rowsell-Shand.

She gave a talk about her journey to success and the challenges she faced in realising her dream to stand on the top of the Olympic podium. The evening included musical pieces by students from schools around the country.

Max Mitchell was recognised for achieving target grades despite suffering from serious illness throughout his time at Wadham School, Beth Lacey for successfully juggling top level tennis competition with her studies and sisters Rebecca and Abigail French for achieving well above predicted GCSE grades.

Parents and staff shared in their success at the awards ceremony held at City Hall in Westminster.

PiXL, which stands for Partners in Excellence in schools, is a network of schools that work collaboratively to improve pupil performance, particularly at GCSE level.
