CRESTA swimming pool will remain closed into next week.

The pool was shut on November 24 after issues with the pool's ventilation system.

A spokesman for the centre said: "Unfortunately Cresta Swimming Pool will remain closed until Tuesday, December 6, due to maintenance issues, we are hopeful that we will be back open as normal on the Tuesday morning.

"We will continue to update this page and our facebook page as we have more information. We apologies for the inconvenience caused."

Somerset County Council Scientific Services team carried out tests on the site on Monday, with the results expected to be returned today.

The spokesman added: "1610 has been told that the test results will now be available on Monday, December 5, and the pool will have to remain closed until the results of the tests are known.

"1610, the pool leisure operator, has informed members and community groups who use the pool about the closure and apologises for any inconvenience that the closure may cause and it is also grateful for their understanding and patience in regard to this matter.

"1610 will update members about any further changes on the 1610 website. www.1610.org.uk."

The pool is an ongoing issue as it estimated that it needs repairs which would cost around £1 million.
