TWO Holyrood Academy pupils have been targeted in another alleged attack on students near the town centre.

It took place on Tuesday, February 21, and follows an assault in November which saw the school close the path to the Co-op because of the increasing risk of anti-social behaviour by young people who do not attend Holyrood Academy.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called to an incident at 3.45pm, to Bradfield Way, to two reports of an assault involving two groups of teenagers.

“Officers attended, took statements and did house-to-house inquiries. A 16-year-old voluntarily attended the police station as a suspect. One teenager had minor injuries to his face.”

One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, told the News: “Two Holyrood Academy boys were followed from the Co-op Chard to Bradfield way, where they were attacked by six teenagers who do not attend the school.

“Disturbed onlookers from Bishop Court Residential Unit called 999 witnessing this vicious attack.

“The six teenagers left the scene after residents shouted from the windows. The two victims were left bloodied and dazed but able to walk away. Police had descriptions from witnesses.

“Three were riding BMX style bikes and they were last seen running away into Jocelyn playing fields at 4.45pm.”

Mr Matthew Collins, headteacher at Holyrood Academy, said the school were working with the police to track down the culprits.

He said: “We are saddened at the indiscriminate attacks that some of our students have suffered. We met with the police again this week and are working together to address these problems.

“The safety of our students is, as it always is, of paramount concern to us.”

As reported in the News, three students were allegedly assaulted in November, sparking calls from parents to improve security.

The path from Holyrood Academy to the Co-op was closed on December 9, with the school’s website citing “an increasing situation of anti-social behaviour by young people who do not attend Holyrood Academy.”
