DOZENS of fitness fanatics have raised money for charity in Chard with a two hour endurance event.

People at 1610 in Jarman Way, completed a marathon 2 hour fundraising spin hill climb recently.

The centre has also launched 1610's Lets Move campaign this week, trying to encourage more people to take up exercise.

Trish Bishop, wellness manager at 1610, said: "We had 37 attend the two hour spin hill climb raising money for our charity of the year, which is MIND.

"We have done several events so far including a treadmill marathon, a four hour endurance spin, and now the two hour spin hill climb."

The Lets Move campaign is running from March 13 to March 31.

Abbie Barnes, 1610 Chard wellness coach, said: "The global challenge is designed to raise awareness about obesity and sedentary lifestyles by bringing the community together and getting everyone moving.

"We are looking to generate as many ‘moves’ as possible as a centre in to reach targets that will mean we win prizes that we can feed back into the community, such as equipment for schools."

Chard 1610 has a target of 2 million moves. For more information, visit www.1610.org.uk.
