A BRIGHT start across Somerset is set to give way to light showers this afternoon.

In their south west summary, Met office said: "After a cold but largely sunny start, patchy cloud will spread from the west, bringing further showers.

"These may turn heavy, thundery and likely wintry over the moors. It will feel colder than of late, especially in the brisk wind."

The maximum temperature is set to reach around 10C, before falling to a minimum of 2C overnight.

Tomorrow's forecast said: "The rain should quickly clear away to the northeast and the winds will ease. It will then turn brighter but scattered showers are likely, these possibly heavy and thundery."

The temperature is again set to peak at 10C.
