BUDDING volunteers are being invited to find out more about the range of opportunities at the National Trust.

The trust is holding two open days in June, and give people a chance to meet the teams, and for information about volunteering for the National Trust in Somerset coast and countryside, including Barton, Brean Down, Fyne Court and Wellington Monument.

On the days, staff and volunteers will be available for an informal chat to talk about the many opportunities available with the National Trust.

There’s also chance to try your hand at a few of the activities roles have to offer.

They include working to deliver events and information to the public, gardening, wildlife surveying, helping out with retail and catering, and even walking your dog.

Jenny Weston, National Trust visitor experience manaher in Somerset coast and countryside said: "We hope to really grow and diversify our team of volunteers in Somerset.

"If you’re interested, don’t worry about what role you may or may not be able to do.

"Come for a chat and once we understand your interests, skills, needs and availability, we can find a role to suit you."

Stuart Riggs, National Trust ranger and conservation volunteer lead added: "Our volunteers are so important. A volunteer with the National Trust will not only be part of a friendly team, but will get the chance to pick up all sorts of skills and knowledge.

"Many find that the practical skills learnt are of use in future careers. It’s also a chance to socialise, meet new people and support a great cause."

The open days take place on Thursday, June 1 at Fyne Court in the Quantock Hills, and Wednesday, June 7 at Brean Down as part of National Volunteers’ Week.
