PEOPLE across Somerset are being asked to wear red and to hold a fundraising event in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
Ideas for the charity's Wear it. Beat it. campaign on Friday, June 9, include bake sales or coffee mornings at work to a red-themed garden party with friends and family.
Peter Tarrant, BHF area fundraising manager for the South West, said heart and circulatory disease kills around 15,000 people in the region every year, while 639,000 people in the region are "living with the burden".
He added: "The need to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat these terrible conditions is more urgent than ever.
"That’s why I’m calling on everyone to take part in the BHF’s Wear it. Beat it. campaign."
