ILMINSTER was lit up last night as this year's Christmas Lights and Victorian Evening took place.

People gathered near the Market House for the official light switch-on at 7pm.

Shops in the area have designed special window displays to bring some festive cheer to the cold winter nights.

The evening's festivities started at 6pm with a lantern parade at 6.30pm.

Teams from the Christmas Lights Committee have been busy over the last three weeks putting up garlands throughout the town, and nearly 80 Christmas trees have been erected on shop fronts in the town centre, all adding to the sparkling spectacle.
