Piers Simon Concert is another big success

THE second Piers Simon Appeal Charity Concert raised around £12,000 at Home Farm in Chilthorne Domer.

Around 650 people enjoyed eight hours of superb music from seven bands, headed by Storm, whose drummer Dave Jacklin came up with the first concert last year.

Music was of the highest quality through Andrea Helyar's great sound system and the other bands were The Rift, Quicksilver, Pineapple Thief, Move Over and Slide, with special appearances from Mid Life Crisis and Derek Esp's Minstrels.

Glastonbury guru' Michael Eavis was the surprise guest and attracted huge attention from the concert-goers and he was more than happy to become Patron of the Piers Simon Appeal.

The appeal was set-up following the Asian tsunami of 2004 in which Chilthorne Domer man Piers Simon died.

The concert received vital support from many local businesses and individuals especially YHC, D. A. Scanes and Sons Plant Hire, AV Scaffolding, Yeovil Buildbase, Grant Whyman Marquees, Jean Paul De-Ronne, Halfway House, Somerset Cider Brandy Co, Liz Tabor, Yeovil Express, Ivel FM, Rob Jackson, Phil Hocking, Caroline Weeks, Greenslade Taylor Hunt and Les Attwell and Sons.

The Simon family wish to thank all the performers and many helpers who worked so tirelessly and all the generous donors of gifts for the excellent draw.

The PSA is currently helping the rebuilding of houses and a community centre in Java, Indonesia following last year's catastrophic earthquake. For more information please see our website www.pierssimonappeal.org
