A DOZEN people have been arrested after police carried out drugs raids in Somerset.

Officers carried out arrest warrants at a number of addresses in Yeovil on Thursday in a bid to clamp down on so-called 'county lines' in the town, which see drug-dealers from outside our force area travel to a location to carry out criminality and often includes exploiting vulnerable people.

Class A drugs, cannabis, cash and knives were recovered from all addresses, with 12 people arrested as a result for drug offences.

A police spokesman said 11 people have been charged and are in custody.

Somerset County Gazette:

Chief Inspector Sharon Bennett said: “Tackling county lines and its effects remains a force priority.

“We will always seek to target those involved and deal with them robustly, working with our partners and using a widening number of tools to disrupt their activities and make them face justice.

"As well as targeting individuals, we have issued dispersal orders at four locations that will allow us to move on those looking to cause anti-social behaviour or deal drugs."

Anyone with information about drug dealing should contact police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
