A MAIN route from Chard to Taunton was closed for five hours after a crash between a lorry and a car.
Emergency services were called to the scene near the Eagle Tavern turning off the A303 at 3.15pm yesterday (August 9).
The road remained closed past 8pm.
A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called on Thursday at around 3.15pm to attend a road traffic incident involving two vehicles in the area of Hamley Lane, Buckland St Mary, Chard.
"We attended with a doctor, an ambulance, and a rapid response vehicle.
"A female patient and another patient were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment."
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police added:"The reason the road was shut was due to a tree which had fallen that the council had to get a team out to chop up and remove."
