County council's national acclaim

SOMERSET County Council's trail-blazing biofuels project has won national acclaim by landing a coveted Public Servants of the Year Award.

The initiative beat off competition from around the country to win the Going Green Award for sustainability, in recognition of the way it is pioneering the use of bioethanol as a road transport fuel, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Public Servants Awards celebrate achievements from all public services. They were presented by respected newsreader Nicholas Owen and journalist Felicity Barr at a ceremony in London.
