BUS company First's has announced some service changes in Yeovil and Taunton in order to fulfil its commitment to meet customers' travel needs by providing a quality service in the local area.
A company spokesman said: "We need to make sure that we can adapt to a variety of circumstances and we work closely with the local authority to make sure that we can respond to and plan for ongoing issues, such as road works.
"First also monitors customer usage in order that we can make adjustments in terms of frequency or the planning of routes."
First's commercial director, Simon Cursio, added: "We hope that the majority of our passengers will benefit from these changes in the long-term.
"As a result of the recently established customer panel in Taunton our customers will be able to feedback directly to senior management. This way we can ensure that we constantly consult with the public over issues relating to service changes."
Service Changes in the Taunton and Yeovil area from Monday, October 29, the following changes will take affect in the Taunton and Yeovil.
Yeovil Town Service 9 Abbey Manor Park - Bus Station. Monday to Saturday two early morning journeys have been withdrawn.
Service 23 and 25A Taunton - Cotford St Luke. Now work has been completed in the new housing estate in Cotford St Luke, buses will now run along the full length of Graham Way. There will be no change to the frequency of this service.
Service 54C Yeovil - Taunton. Due to Health and Safety reasons for both customers on board our buses and other road users, the service is being re- routed to serve Lytes Cary instead of Charlton Adam.
Due to new EU legislation which places driving restrictions on routes over 50km long the following journeys have been altered.
Service 30A Taunton - Lyme Regis. The 0700 Monday to Friday journey from Taunton, Bus Station will now depart at 0650 and terminate at Chard, Guildhall at 0748. Customers wishing to continue to Lyme Regis can catch 0754 journey from Chard, Great Western Way to Axminster. During School term this bus will continue to Lyme Regis, Woodroffe School at 0835.
The 1615 Monday to Friday journey from Axminster Rail Station will now terminate at Chard, Great Western Way at 1644. Customers travelling to Taunton Bus Station can catch the 1655 from Chard, Boden Street to Taunton, Bus Station.
During school term this journey will start from Lyme Regis, Woodroffe school at 1545.
In addition the 1410 Monday to Saturday journey from Axminster, Rail Station to Taunton Bus station will now travel along the A358 instead of Ilton.
Service 54 Yeovil - Taunton. The 0715 Saturday journey from Yeovil Bus station to Taunton Bus station and the 1745 journey from Taunton Bus station to Yeovil will be re -routed along the A358 instead of North Curry.
Also there will be an additional 1645 journey Monday to Friday during college terms from SCAT to Somerton, Square.
