A TEACHER from Preston School has received an award from the winner of last year's BBC programme The Apprentice.
Jessica Gray, assistant head at Preston, received the award from Michelle Dewberry on behalf of the Somerset Education Business Partnership which works with business and education to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help them become the successful workforce of the future.
They achieve this through their portfolio of education business link activities designed to provide opportunities for young people to gain direct experience of the working world.
Schools, colleges and education business organisations were invited to make nominations in support of a teacher that has made a significant contribution to the development of Education Business Links in Somerset.
Jessica has embraced the business links agenda within Preston School by building upon the support from local companies who were initially involved in its bid for specialist school status.
She attended breakfast meetings with local businesses and has built up a large number of contacts which she calls upon to enhance the curriculum across the school.
