FIRE officers remain at the scene this morning of a large fire on Abbey Manor Park in Yeovil.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received more than 50 calls around 8pm yesterday evening about a blaze at scrapyard premises on the estate.

Numerous various types of cylinders were removed from the fire.

The number of fire engines on the scene grew to 11 and special vehicles attended from Yeovil, Martock, Somerton, Chard, Castle Cary, Wincanton, Ilminster, Taunton, Wiveliscombe, Bridgwater, Street, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Frome.

Two engines from Sherborne were also in attendance.

Fire investigations will continue this morning, but initial reports suggest it was arson.
