A public history conference will take place in memory of a Strode College lecturer and in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.
The event is in honour of James Arlett, who died of cancer last year.
Scheduled at Glastonbury Town Hall on April 19 from 9.30am till 5.30pm, the focus will be on the crusades - Mr Arlett's field of specialisation.
Dr Sean McGlynn, history lecturer on Strode College’s HHA BA (Hons) course, said: "James was a scholar of outstanding ability and potential.
"His module on the Crusades was very popular and it is fitting that his specialist subject is being acknowledged by this exciting conference."
Mr Arlett, who was a member of the college’s history, heritage and archaeology team, believed it important for more people to study, research, and expand the discourse around the Crusades.
Dr John Revill, principal of Strode College, said: "Strode College is delighted to support this event.
"Helping to bring such an impressive speaker offering to a wider audience, particularly one with a charitable contribution in memory of a valued colleague, is something we’re very proud of.”
The public is invited to support the cause and join the conference.
Tickets are available at www.strodetheatre.org.uk with six expert leaders in the field appearing as speakers.
