A car has been left 75 per cent damaged after being deliberately set on fire in Minehead this morning (April 20).

One fire crew from Minehead was called out at around 5am on Saturday, to attend to a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival crews confirmed flames were issuing and requested a second Fire Engine be mobilised for water and to help prevent the fire spreading to a nearby thatched house.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Throughout the incident, we used: One hose reel jet, Two breathing apparatus, Small tools and a Environmental pack. 

"The car was 75% damaged by fire. The cause is believed to be deliberate."
