FOUR Somerset care homes have been named among the Top 20 Care Homes South West England for 2024, according to rating and review site, carehome.co.uk.

Burnworthy House in South Petherton, Gorselands Care Home in Clevedon, Heron House in Taunton, and Nashley House in Weston-super-Mare, were all recognised based on reviews from residents and their family or friends posted on the site.

Carehome.co.uk allows residents and family members to post reviews about care and nursing homes.

One review posted on the site by a family member of a resident of Burnworthy House, South Petherton, said: “I visited to join the celebrations for my aunt's 100th birthday.

“Everyone was so welcoming and seeing all the residents gathered together and enjoying themselves.

“The care and attention given to all residents was subtle but full of kindness and respect.”

In addition to glowing reviews, all care homes in the top 20 list had to receive a good or outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator and inspector of health and adult care in England.

Heron House in Taunton provides care for 37 residents and was rated Outstanding for being well led in a 2023 CQC review.

Reacting to the award, Heron House Administration Manager Colin Barnes, 63, said: “It’s absolutely brilliant, we’re very proud of what we do.

“If my mum and dad were still alive, this is the place I would want them to be, it’s a very caring environment.”
