A FORMER pupil of Hugh Sexey Middle School, Blackford, was among those honoured in the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards.
In the past year decathlete Ben Gibb, 18, of Axbridge, has represented Somerset at the English schools combined events championships where he won the decathlon with a personal best score.
Last summer he competed for Great Britain and he is a regular part of the England Athletics National Squad.
Now he is aiming to cement his place in the team and compete at the European Junior Championships this year. He also has his sights set on the London 2012 Olympics.
