MINEHEAD students Felicity Gover and Harriet Rose-Gale won a winner’s certificate for their charity fundraising and for ‘improving the sixth form experience’ at West Somerset Community College in Minehead.
They’re both on the sixth form executive, they enjoy planning educational visits and between them they edit the sixth form newsletter and mentor a maths class.
They were presented with winners certificates in the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards.
They organised a series of activities to raise £2,750 for Cancer Research UK, inspiring others to raise money for charity in the process.
On then night they said: “Cancer touches a lot of people’s lives and we wanted to make an impact on something that affected a lot of people - but what we have done feels insignificant compared to what others have done here.”
