Crocodile line sets new world record

CHILDREN from North Cadbury Primary School took part in a record-breaking walking bus attempt organised by the road safety charity BRAKE.

Fifty-seven pupils from North Cadbury Primary School and hundreds of other schools at exactly the same moment helped to break a world record by being among more than 100,000 children all walking in a crocodile of twos, with adults accompanying them, on a 500m safe route around the school.

By taking part in the Record Breaking Walking Bus, children and parents were educated about the benefits of walking to school to reduce traffic dangers, pollution and obesity, as well as supporting a vital charity caring for families bereaved by crashes.

Every 20 minutes, a child is hurt or killed on foot by a vehicle in the UK, most on the way to or from school, and 40% of pupils are now driven to school.
