PARENTS with pushchairs are being encouraged to get their walking boots on to take part in a programme of new buggy walks starting from Caryford this month.
South Somerset District Council’s community activity and lifestyles team - which trains local ‘health walk leaders’ and maps out new routes suitable for pushchairs and prams - has set up a timetable which is available by clicking on the link in the "related articles" section on this page of our website.
Walks will start on Thursday 30 July from Caryford Fitness and Leisure Centre, Maggs Lane, Ansford, Castle Cary from 9.30am and will run at the same time each week for a six-week trial period.
The council's leisure, culture and well-being spokesman, Cllr Sylvia Seal, said: "The team get out into the community and provide them with the skills and training they need to then run their own regular healthy activity, so they make a little go a long way.
"This is about improving fitness opportunities and helping local people to set up and then maintain a long-standing programme of activities.”
