Lynda Bellingham to be star guest at Mayor's charity ball

ACTRESS Lynda Bellingham will be the star guest at the Mayor of Yeovil's annual charity ball later this month.

The ball takes place on Friday, November 27, at the Westland Leisure Complex in Westbourne Close, Yeovil, and the Mayor, Cllr Wes Read, is hoping to raise as much money as possible for his two designated charities - Leukaemia Research and the Alzheimer's Society.

The evening will consist of a four-course dinner with dancing to "Fairplay", and music from Steve Carpenter of Midwest Radio.

There will also be a charity auction with Lots including a signed England football shirt kindly donated by the Yeovil & District Football League in partnership with the Somerset Football Association.

Dinner for six, provided and cooked in your own home, by the proprietor of Mulberrys Bistro, and ice skating boots signed by contestants and judges of Dancing on Ice, donated by Jessica Taylor, a former band member of Liberty X, are also up for grabs.

Tickets to see the Loose Women TV show together with a meet and greet of the ladies will also be included in the auction.

This has been kindly donated by well-known TV celebrity and star of Strictly Come Dancing, Lynda Bellingham, who will also be a guest at this year's ball.

In addition, there will be a tombola running throughout the evening, a casino and the chance to "win" an Audi A3 Cabriolet for the weekend, kindly donated by Loders of Yeovil.

The Mayor said: "On behalf of myself and my chosen charities, I would sincerely like to thank everyone who has kindly sponsored or donated prizes to this year's Mayor's Ball.

"Without their support and those attending on the night, the annual Mayor's Ball would not continue to be as successful and, in turn, raise much needed funds for both Leukaemia Research and the Alzheimer's Society."
