MP to attend Remembrance Day services

YEOVIL MP David Laws will attend three Remembrance Day services and laying wreaths across his constituency today.

Mr Laws will be at the Yeovil war memorial in the Borough at 11am followed by a service at St John's Church.

He will then be at St Andrew's Church at Dowlish Wake, near Ilminster, for another ceremony at 1pm.

And then he will be at the Minster in Ilminster for a Remembrance Day service at 3pm.

Mr Laws said: "Remembrance Day is always an important occasion on which we remember and pay tribute to all those who have lost their lives in the service of our country.

“This year we particularly think of those still serving in Afghanistan and those who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan in recent years.

"I am also thinking of the generation who served in the Second World War, who are sadly with us in diminishing numbers, but whose courage we remember on this 65th anniversary of the Normandy landings."

And Mr Laws added: "Remembrance Day is also an opportunity to support the fantastic work of the Royal British Legion in caring for current and ex-servicemen and women and their families.”
