Taunton'S 50/50 cycle ride is set to get a new lease of life with a new route for its 15th year.

This year's event, run by Taunton Rotary Club with backing from the County Gazette and Viridor Waste Management, will be held on Sunday June 6.

Riders will be setting off from Taunton's Somerset College for the first time, choosing between ten, 18 28, 38, 46 or 56 miles.

The ten-mile route has been changed but the others remain largely the same.

Half the cash raised will be spilt between Mustgrove Leukaemic Group and other Rotary charities, with the other half going to the rider's charity of choice.

Ride organiser Jon Upsher said: "We are looking forward to this year's event and hope the new route will give the ride a new lease of life.

"Last year's event was a great success so we are hoping people will get behind us yet again to raise as much money as possible for MLGS and other worthy charities."

A promotions day will be held in Taunton on March 13 and May 1 outside the Next store.

Members will be recruiting riders and encouraging people to get involved.

Full route maps and entry forms will be available soon.

Keep an eye on your County Gazette for all the latest updates and how to get involved.
