PRIDE of Somerset Youth Awards Winner Andrew Middleton is one of the few people who can say they are still talked about fondly by staff and pupils at their old school.

He was nominated by staff at Ansford School, in Castle Cary, for his contribution as a peer mentor.

He played a leading role within a team of mentors, giving presentations in assemblies and classrooms discussing bullying and other topics so that students knew what help was available to them.

He now volunteers at the local youth club, organising activities and leading events.

His nomination read: “This demonstrates his altruistic nature in always being willing to give something of himself to the wider community.”
