Yeovil building firm signs £25m deal with Yarlington Homes

A CONTRACT worth around £25-million has been awarded to Yeovil-based builders D. R. Jones for planned maintenance work over the next ten years.

Yarlington Housing Group selected the local building company to carry out the work to their stock of over 8,500 properties in the area, following an EU selection procedure.

The previous Decent Homes partnering contract that was put in place in April 2005 has now been completed, following which Yarlington Housing Group advertised for a single constructor partner to carry out the planned maintenance works programme for a full ten-year term.

Initially 23 companies responded, from which seven were short-listed and invited to tender. The contract includes the replacement of kitchens, bathrooms, and various other items plus decoration work.

Director for Yarlington Property Management, Colin James, said: “I am pleased that D. R. Jones has been selected to work with us on this contract.

“They have shown an energy and enthusiasm that will help enrich our business. They have grown significantly in the last 5 years, and have demonstrated a capability to deliver to our exacting standards.”

D. R. Jones’ operations director, Mark Porter, said: “We are really proud to have secured this 10 year partnership with the Yarlington Housing Group.
