The Who hopes to find dream Chevy at Haynes Museum

A MEMBER of the world famous rock band The Who will visit Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford tomorrow (Friday, April 30).

Texan-born John ‘Rabbit’ Bundrick, who has been keyboard player in The Who alongside Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend since 1977, will launch the display entitled 100 Years of Advertising the Motor Car.

John said: “This will be the first time I have visited Haynes International Motor Museum.

“I am looking forward to seeing the exhibition about the car advertising, but in particular I hope to sit at the wheel of the Chevrolet Camaro they have on display.

“I bought my first Chevy in the early 1970s from the proceeds of the Johnny Nash hit I Can See Clearly Now which I played on.

“I think American cars are the most fantastic looking cars in the world and the Camaro is my all-time favourite American car.”

Curatorial director at the museum, Mike Penn, added: “The motor industry is noted for producing advertising campaigns that are truly memorable.

“This exhibition plots the key development over the last 100 years in the history of advertising the motor car.

“All the great names of motoring are included in the display with examples of how manufacturing have exploited the latest media techniques and images through advertising to sell their cars.”

John will be opening the exhibition tomorrow (Friday, April 30) at 1pm.
