A DEDICATED member of the Wiveliscombe Town Band has decided to hang up his instruments after an astonishing 75 years of service.
John Mogford, 86, joined the band aged ten and hardly missed an engagement.
He is most known for playing the baritone horn and the E-flat bass during his time with the band.
He proved himself not only as a safe pair of hands musically, but also financially by acting as the band's treasurer for 60 years.
John was presented with a framed pictured of the band, an engraved brandy glass and a bottle of his favourite tipple at a celebration of his lifetime contribution.
He will continue his involvement with the band by maintaining his role as president.
